Styling
The roles of interior designers and stylists can overlap quite often, however, they are usually quite different in nature. Typically, photography stylists work for magazines on editorial projects, or advertising, marketing and freelance. It is also not uncommon for interior stylists to work alongside developers on showcasing the finished product of a home before the sale (this is not the same thing as an interior stager's job).
So when we talk about photography stylists, we often refer to the following:
-
The interpretation of a client brief for marketing purposes, usually in order to sell a product or service.
-
Set up photo shoots for magazines and style the spaces to promote products.
-
Make the photo shoot look outstanding by working with photographers.
-
Source location and props depending on the project
-
Can take on the creative director role if required
Don't expect your photographer to do the styling. We work closely with photographers and set the scene for a shoot that captures your desired mood, style and atmosphere. Whether the photos will be used across e-commerce, print or social media, we help you create an inviting visual story that promotes your products. During a photo shoot, we will direct the visual representation of the product as well as create the mood and tone for the photographic story.
Our job is to find the props, space and lighting to create just the right feeling and mood for the photo shoot. In each shoot, we collaborate with the Photographer and the marketing team ahead of time to settle on a particular look, and then we bring the suitable props to the location, which can be either from a rental studio or our inventory.
